| HOME ABOUT US The Lindsay Horsemans' Association (LHA) is dedicated to promoting and upholding good sportsmanship in the horse show arena, as well as kind and ethical treatment of horses, and the people who ride and own them. The LHA is committed to expanding the popularity and appreciation of horsemanship and to bring new enthusiasts to the sport. Our club is made up of horse enthusiasts who gather together for four shows each season. Established circa 1960, we provide a supportive venue for people to share their love of horses, improve their horsemanship skills and gain valuable show experience. The LHA offers the opportunity for children and adult riders of all ages and experience levels to participate in equine competition on a local level within a friendly, family-oriented environment. We have been fortunate to have the strong sponsor support of our community and many sponsors have been committed to supporting our club on an ongoing basis. This, combined with our dedicated group of volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes and on show days, enables us to continue to grow. Please take some time and visit our Sponsor page. PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Welcome to the new LHA website. I hope you enjoy all the changes. LHA is happy to have Katie of Big Dog Web Design doing some much needed updates to our site. We greatly appreciate it. We also have some new members to
our executive this year. Amy Chilton
will be our western ring steward. Kelly McLean is going to help out
with the news section of our website, and as mentioned Katie
is our official webmaster. We are looking for someone to
take on the
task of announcing, or at least share the task, so the day isn't quite
so long. Also we are looking
for someone to help hand out the ribbons
as Ruby has been looking after this for far too long. There is going to be a few changes this upcoming season, but the most important is the date change in July. It is the second Sunday in July. July 11, 2010 is the date. We will be bringing all of the jumps out of storage on May 13 at 6:30pm at the Lindsay Central Exhibition grounds to get them ready for the upcoming season. So please if you can give us a hand, we would appreciate it. We would like to put some fresh paint on some of the jumps and poles, on the barrels, etc. This will be the only show that the jumps will be set up for the show. We have decided that the jump set up will take place in the morning prior to the show starting, when there will be more people available to help out. We also have to remove the jumps from the ring after the jumper division, so please stay around to help out as many hands make light work. The executive will truly appreciate you helping out. We have made a few changes to the western classes - we deleted the junior horse in the halter division and the Jack Benny class. We did add a new game in the gymkhana division and it is the stirrup race (trot / jog and open). Please be sure to check all the show rules - there may be some that you are not yet aware of. Start the season out right and read the show program from front to back. Knowing a particular rule will change where you place in a class! We also have a new rule: You must enter all gymkhana games at least 3 classes prior to the game you want to participate in. I think I have given you all the information I have right now but keep checking back on the website for several new changes. I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised. The executive is pumped and ready for a great show season. Happy riding and practicing. Enjoy the sunshine and the lack of snow. See you all in May. Heather Porter, LHA President ![]() IMPORTANT DATES All shows are open to competitors who are members and non-members alike and specializes in English, Western and gymkhana. They are the perfect introduction for exhibitors wishing to experience and compete at a recognized level without the high cost and are ideal for those riders appraising the caliber of their horse. Our shows are held at the Lindsay Central Exhibition grounds at 354 Angeline Street South, near highways 7 and 35. Ribbons are awarded to the top five entries in all classes. All shows are open to the public at no charge to spectators.
